(Every boat in our fleet is named for one of the founders grandchildren, a sweet reminder that we are family owned and operated company.) Our knowledgeable guides will share insights into the local wildlife, including eagles, porpoises, and seals. From April through September, whale sightings are common along our route. After the cruise, (explore the Tongass National Forest via an exclusive elevated boardwalk trail, leading to the largest known red cedar in the area. Conclude your adventure with a delectable seafood boil featuring Dungeness crab, shrimp, mussels, clams, and more. We always have plenty of melted butter at the ready and some grilled bread to soak up every bite.
Alaska Hovercraft Eco Tour
Join us aboard the BlackBird Hovercraft for a one-of-a-kind eco-friendly tour through the Tongass Narrows and surrounding islands. This unique vessel allows us to seamlessly transition from water to land, granting access to pristine beaches and secluded areas teeming with wildlife. Keep an eye out for whales, seals, and eagles as you glide over the water and explore untouched coastlines. These unique vessels are the only two operating in North America currently so this is a very exclusive experience that can only be had in Ketchikan.
Alaskan Bear Encounter by Land & Sea
Embark on a journey to Neets Bay Observatory, a pristine wilderness area with limited annual visitors. Your adventure begins with a narrated motor coach tour, followed by a boat ride that skirts the shores of the Tongass National Forest, offering opportunities to spot whales, eagles, and sea lions. At any time once we enter the cove at Neets Bay, bears may be seen. Upon arrival at the dock, you’ll be greeted by a naturalist who will brief you on general safety – bears can be present at any time! You will then walk along a forest trail to a viewing platform along a stream, where you can potentially observe bears in their natural habitat as they fish for salmon. This tour requires participants to walk up to 3/4 of a mile on varied terrain so unfortunately, we cannot welcome wheelchair, walkers, scooter or guests with canes. Also, due to the length of this tour (4 hours and 45 minutes start to finish) we strongly discourage children under 5.
